Here we are in November. Thanksgiving just gone and the Christmas season in full effect.

Had a bit of travel over the month. My now annual board gaming retreat with friends took us to a lake house in East Texas for a long weekend.

My brother and dad don't live too far from there, I decided to extend my trip and visit them, too.

Last year, we were all gifted a Christmas themed game construction kit. The goal to create a game we'd all play during our weekend. Those made it out to the table along with a number of others from our collections.

Here are all the games in the order we played them.

We also started a final game that we weren't able to complete before checkout. I forgot to get a snapshot of that before we cleared the table.

It was a great weekend, but over much too soon. We may have to add another day next year.

Movies

While a lot of the focus was on games, I still caught a number of films.

• Totally Killer was a fun horror flick that was a slasher combined with Back to the Future.
• The Mummy (2017) was supposed to relaunch the Universal Monster franchise, but didn't end up doing that. I still enjoy the films starring Brendan Frasier over this one, but this one isn't bad.
• Nekrotronic was a blast. Lots of influences, the most obvious being Ghostbusters.
• The Killer, the latest film from David Fincher, had all the style and artistry he applies to all his films. This one with quieter story with a few decent action sequences.
• The Marvels is getting a lot of negativity thrown at it. I enjoyed it. Doesn't hold up too much scrutiny if you think too hard about it afterward, however. It feels like it was made more for Disney+ than the theater.

Reelhouse Foundation Films

Due to travel and holidays, I only attended a single Reelhouse screening this month.

• Blood Quantum (2019) is a zombie movie where people with Native American blood are immune from infection. An interesting twist that still doesn't prevent them from being eaten, so the zombies are still quite dangerous.
