Okay, let's just change things to month notes. I know it's not quite the end of February yet, but I'll make a go of this and see when I'm able to post again.

Finally being back home for a while I took off on Valentine's Day and my wife and I took the day off and did a little hiking.

Eisenhauer State Park

A while back we visited this place once before and decided to again.

The park is on Lake Texoma which sits between Texas and Oklahoma

We also caught sight of a live armadillo poking around in the woods. This is a rare sight since it's truly rare to see a live one in the wild. You see plenty of them as roadkill on the side of the road quite a bit, but it was quite exciting to see one live.

The first few weeks of February I was still up in Philadelphia with a work trip. The final week, we had our first departmental gathering with most of our international developers, but not quite all yet.

Things went well and it was really great to see everyone again in person.

I was even able to get a game of Parks in one evening.

Movies

  • The Green Knight is one where you better have your brain tuned to art-house film mode. If you are looking for an afternoon of medieval thoughtless entertaining, turn away. This one is for those looking for a puzzle to work out what the film really means.  
  • Death on the Nile is a follow-up film from Murder on the Orient Express starring Kenneth Branaugh as the master sleuth Hercule Poirot. My wife and I liked the original film and we liked this one just as much. Hope they make more of these.

Reelhouse Foundation Films

  • Vision Quest (1985) is a film I recall as being better than it really is having seen it many years later.
Rollerball
  • Rollerball (1975) still holds up as a great film to me. Sure it's dated, but it's still a thrill to watch and is just as applicable today as it was over forty years ago.
  • Downhill Racer (1969) stars Robert Redford as a cocky downhill snow skiing racer. Can't say I overly enjoyed it mostly because he's not a really likable character.

Gloomhaven: Jaws of the Lion

I've played a handful of scenarios of the main Gloomhaven game but have heard that Jaws of the Lion provides a better onboarding experience to ramp you up into the rules.

That seems to be the case. And it provides a pretty interesting storyline as you run through the scenarios. Love the gamebook/board as the tiles from the main game are quite a handful to both set up and store. Having fun with this one so far.

We have to put an end to whatever evil this cult is up to.
