I got my first COVID vaccine shot yesterday. It felt like the first step out of this mess.

I'm okay if someone doesn't want to wear a mask, but they should still respect others' decisions to wear them. I'm not okay when someone tries to shame people for wearing them or yell at those working at places that require a mask. I guess if they think wearing a mask is infringing their freedom, they don't wear a seat belt in their vehicle either. If they do, then why are they being hippocratic?

Upcoming Travel

I have a trip planned soon with will involve my first flight since before COVID-19 shut things down. While I'm a little apprehensive, I at least have a number of friends and co-workers who've flown and they all did it safely and without catching anything. I'll recap the experience in my next post.

Movies

  • The King of Kong: A Fistful of Quarters is a pretty mesmerizing documentary about the world record score for the Donkey Kong arcade game. After being held for over 20 years, a contender appears to dethrone the king.
  • The Thousand Faces of Dunjia was entertaining. Ironically, Yuen Woo-ping is most famous for his fight choreography and this film doesn't have a ton of that. Still some nice looking monsters to fight, but it's mostly a special effects showcase.
  • The Amazing Spider-Man (1977) is pretty bad even as a 1977 made-for-TV movie. It was a time when seeing a live person wearing a superhero costume in a live-action show was exciting enough to carry the entire running time.
  • The Fantastic Four (1994) is really bad and it's understandable that it was never really officially released. That said, it's still one of the better Fantastic Four films made. The effects are completely laughable. You can definitely enjoy this one with a group of friends (once you can gather safely again) drunk or not.

  • Dr. Strange (1978) is a pilot for a proposed series way back when. It's not completely awful, but very 70's with it's funky music, hair and costumes.
  • Midnight Special is a film from 2016 I'd had on my list for a while. It's pretty decent most of the way through but I feel it kind of falls on its face at the end.
